How do I get a library card?

We are excited that you want to get a library card with us! The process is to get your own card is simple

  • Call us during business hours (M-F 9-6). Be prepared to provide us with your name and contact information. We'll set up your card information, and then wait for you to come by to fill out your information and to verify your identity with your photo ID and proof of address.
  • Come directly to the library. Bring verification of your identity and address (your driver's license and anything with your current living address on it, we need both to provide you with a card).

Once your identity has been verified, the brand new library card is all yours! Your card will work in any of the Uinta County Libraries. Evanston, Lyman, or Mountain View. You may visit any of these libraries and return items there or check anything out. Our card catalog relects the entire database of materials within Uinta County. You may request a book from one of the libraries and the service is free to have it delievered to you.

How do I use my Library account?

Start by clicking on my account or clicking on the Sign In button on the top right corner. It will take you to a new window where it will ask for your barcode and PIN #, make sure to put in both before clicking the login button. When putting in your barcode number do NOT include the A and B letters that are at the beginning and end of the numbers, otherwise it will not let you in.

If you do not know your PIN number or have forgotten it, you can reset your PIN.
Under my account, click on the reset PIN link above the login button. It will have you enter your card barcode number and an email will be sent to the email address on file containing a link to reset your PIN.

You are also welcome to stop in and ask us to look up your PIN or you can call the library during open hours to ask for your PIN number.

How do I place a hold?

To place a hold for pickup, call your local library

for assistance or login to your library account. To be clear, you DO NOT have to do both of these things. You only need to do one to successfully place a hold. Your needs may make one option preferable to you, so we'll explain each process below.

CALL THE LIBRARY
Check our hours to see the days we are available for which Uinta County Library you wish to call. We love to hear from our patrons, so feel free to call us if you want someone to walk you through getting a hold placed with you.

USE THE CATALOG WEBSITE
You can use our online catalog to access the items at every library in Uinta County. Through it, you can search by title, author, subject, or item type to find what you want to check out. Start by logging in. You do this by clicking on "Sign in" at the top right portion of the page, and using your personal library card number and PIN. After you log in, you'll be able to see holds you've already placed and items you currently have checked out. Now you're ready to start browsing! Once you've found an item you'd like, click the "place hold" button. Make sure your information is correct, that you have the right item, and that it's going to the library where you'd like to pick it up, and then you're good to go!

How do I find a book I want?

Start by searching our online catalog for the item you want. Try searching by title first, followed by author or another contributor if you don't see what you're looking for. If you've tried that and haven't been able to find the book, CD, or film you're interested in, you can request the item be borrowed from a library elsewhere in the country however it will have a cost of $4.00 an item, or you can request an item from one of the branch libraries with no cost.

Inter-Library Loans are available to patrons. To request an ILL, simply fill out this form. Be prepared with your contact information, library card number, and information about the item you want. Alternatively, you can call the library and ask us to request it for you!

If you'd like to submit a purchase request for an item, sign in to your Uinta County Library account in the upper right corner of this page. Once logged in, click the "Request Material" link under the "Library Services" menu. It will take you to a form to fill out. You must have a Uinta County library card in order to request something. Alternatively, you can call the library and ask us to request it for you!

How do I access digital library books and audiobooks?

LIBBY is the app you can use to access free digital books or audiobooks through the Library!

Follow these steps to get started:

  1. First, make sure you have a current library card.
  2. Download the LIBBY app from your phone or tablet app store.
  3. Find your library - search for Uinta County Library, and it will show up under Uinta County Library Evanston.
  4. Select "Sign in with my card."
  5. Enter your library card number, excluding the A and B and enter your PIN number. (If you do not know your PIN number, find information "How do I use my library account?" or call your library.)

That's it! You're all set up to start browsing for titles.

Library Services

Can I print/fax at the library?

Yes! Each library in Uinta County has a fax machine and printer for public use.

There are two options for printing.

  • Come use one of our public computers and print off your material there.
  • Send what you need printed through email and we'll print it off for you.

Printing has a charge of 0.15 for black and white per page
or 0.50 for color per page.

A print dialog box will inform you of the number of pages and the cost. You may cancel your printing here. If you click OK,
your printouts will be available at the Circulation Desk for you upon completion.

Fax has a charge of $1.00 for the first page then 0.75 for any addition pages.

How does Inter-Library Loans work?

Inter-Library Loan (ILL):

Our library is connected to other libraries throughout the state and nation. If you can't find an
item in this library, we may be able to find it in another library.

This service has a charge of $4.00 per title, this helps cover postage costs.

Most of the items are delivered to our library in 5-7 days from when we request the item. The
loan periods vary, but you are generally able to keep most items at least 3 weeks. The staff will
inform you of the loan period when you pick up the item.

  • Library staff will call you when your materials arrive.
  • Any materials not picked up within one week will be returned to the lending library.

There are many ways that you can request a book, depending on the book's availability and its
home library.

  • For items in one of the Uinta County Library branches, see Place a Hold.
  • For items from another library in the WYLD network, see Request Interlibrary Loan.
  • For items that you would like to suggest that the library purchase for its collection, see Request Materials.
Does the library rent rooms?

The Uinta County Libraries each have rooms available for public use. If you are interested in using any of our spaces, you may call the library location of your choice or fill out an online application. 

Each room is $15 per hour or 8-hour rental for $100.

Every applicate is required to put down a $50.00 deposit cash or check before renting.

Does the library offer computer usage?

The Uinta County Library does have computers for public use at all three locations. Even if you do not have a library card, you are still welcome to use the computers with one of out guest passes. Parents must sign a permission form for all children under 18 to allow access to our computers. You can pick up a permission form at the front desk.

We have internet computers and room computers. The internet computers are located at different work stations that are accessible to anyone, while the room computers are located in four small rooms. Great for conference calls, zoom meetings, testing, or anything else that requires a quieter place. 

Here are some tips for happy saving when you're using Library computers.

  • Keep an eye on your time to avoid having your work deleted. Look for the session timer in the lower right corner of your desktop to check your remaining time. If you need more time, library staff will be happy to extend your session if you wish.
  • Do NOT save to the My Documents folder. Do not save to the desktop.
    (Your document will be deleted when you log out of the computer).
    Unfortunately, there is no way to recover documents created after the computers reboot.
  • Save frequently to a USB drive.
  • Choose to copy and paste your file into an email and email it to yourself.
  • Use Dropbox, Google Drive or Hotmail-based Word & Excel.

Can I access wifi at the library?

We have Wi-Fi at all three locations if you want to bring your own Wi-Fi capable device to the Library.

The wifi is completely free. Click on Library Public under wifi in your settings and it should take you to our policy agreement page. Once you click "I accept" you're in!

If the page does not pop up try typing in uintalibrary.org in your internet search bar and it should force the page to work. If you do not agree to our policy the wifi will not connect you to the internet.

Can I return books from another library at Uinta County?

If you have checked out an item from any of the three branch libraries Evanston, Lyman, or Mountain View. You can return the items to any of the three libraries in Uinta County. You can also check out any items you would like from the three branch libraries in Uinta County.
